On Monday in class we talked about vanity metrics and what was the information that actually mattered to us. It made me realise how much we value certain things and how little we value other things.
I recently read an article on why we should spend our money on experiences than on material things. Basically as humans we are composed by experiences, each good and bad experience shape us as a person, while material things may give us sudden happiness, but then we adapt to them and want something else, something better and newer. Experiences in the end give us more happiness. And experiences don't necessarily have to be that trip to Europe, experiences are all around us, their free to us. Like for example a meeting with Gaston Acurio, a brainstorming session in Cosas, these experiences mark and makes us a learn in a way probably a brand new Iphone 6 never will. These are stories that we can talk about years from now, probably on college applications, or even on job applications.
So what do we treasure? Do we treasure instant happiness, like for example 300 likes on a picture, or do we value an experience that we won't forget years from now. I remember moving to Miami at 5, I cried, I remember presenting my POL, I remember those really good jokes that still make me laugh. This gives me happiness, this makes me ME.
