All week we have been finding, searching, looking. Searching for answers, finding problems, looking again.
We started with our articles. Understanding our company, reflecting their strengths, telling their success stories, sharing their values. Our articles, 1st draft, hopefully capture everything that makes our company "great". We searched, we found, and we looked again.
On thursday we had our first grading "meeting". People, including me, were skeptical of dealing with this process since it is hard to put a number on something so abstract as our learning. After group discussion, multiple revisions, more group discussion, and finally decision time, we came up with our grades. We searched, we found, we looked again, and then we decided.
It took multiple revisions, multiple rewrites, multiple re-do's to finally achieve what we wanted to achieve. Sometimes I feel that I don't sit back and look again. Looking is one of the most important parts of the process; when we look we find mistakes, errors, misunderstandings, maybe greatness, maybe failures. Taking a second look, reflecting, being certain of what you are creating, that is where great decisions and great work is done.
