On Wednesday I got on a taxi. A ordinary taxi. The first thing that shocked me was a sign that said “Wi-Fi/Clave”. I asked the driver, and he said that his taxi had Wi-Fi because of an OLO router he had bought. We started talking. Some months ago he started realizing how to maximize his job. He started out working just for Easy Taxi, but then joined Taxi Beat and other taxi apps. He had quadrupled his earnings, and was planning on opening a car wash with other taxi drivers, one with a restaurant where their wife’s could work, and obviously, one with Wi-Fi. In the future he wanted to buy a tablet, so that the costumer could read his newspapers, play games, or enjoy the free Internet.
After getting home and reflecting, I realized what I had just experienced. He was more than just a taxi driver. The taxi was just a costume, he was an innovator, an entrepeneur. He found a way to succeed in life, through hard work and technology. It made me think that no matter what your conditions, with a little bit of charisma and planning, you can really achieve something.
